News talk ZB interview with John Lennox NZ

John Lennox

John Lennox is a christian apologist, philosopher of science and professor of mathematics.

Here is a half hour audio mp3 interview covering quite few topics including God's existence, hope and science. John Lennox had recently taken a tour of New Zealand and this is some of the fruit of it.
Quite an interesting interview. It features comments from Lennox regarding past debates with Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchins as well as some atheists phoning up in NZ, even an "atheistic christian", go figure?

Thanks to Thinking Matters for providing the Interview

I agree with the majority of Lennox's comments but I thought he could have done a more in depth explanation regarding the earthquakes and suffering, although I know you are always limited when it comes to radio time. I hope to do a post sometime concerning the reason and causation behind the disasters that have happened.

  1. I might have a listen at work, have you watched Ray on the Athiest Experience?

  2. Nah I haven't yet, only read a few of the comments from people about it. I've only seen Ray in one debate before and that was with the "rational response squad".

  3. I haven't seen John in a while. I actually thought he had retired. I'm glad to see he's still alive and kicking.

    "atheistic christian"

Your first thought is, "Is that even possible?" However, if you think about it, that's how most modern day christians act. What do you think?

  4. you haven't heard the phrase Athiests for Jesus before?

  5. Actually, I have not. However, after reading about them, I do appreciate the fact that they follow his teachings. I hope they will ultimately follow all his teachings especially the one where he states that he was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

Um, not sure what you mean by "modern day", I think that in practice many christians have been doing it throughout history. I am supposing you mean that people live by and for good morals while ignoring the moral Maker.
If so, I agree. Something that we all need to be aware of.

  7. I just read a little about atheists for Jesus and they really are quite an interesting group lol. Though the one on this interview believed that God was "love" which I guess is similar.

  8. Well I wasn't saying they were the same, just there was a possible parrallel there.

  9. "Um, not sure what you mean by "modern day"..."

I said modern day only because I cannot personally attest to how those who came before me presented themselves as Christians. That's all.

As for acting like a "atheistic christian". You have to admit that a lot of "christians" are christians in name only, believing more in tradition and social clubbing than presenting themselves as true believers.

  10. Bath Tub,

"Well I wasn't saying they were the same, just there was a possible parrallel there."

Tentatively, I think I agree with you. However, could you elaborate on the "possible parrallel"?
